Faith Journey

God has been moving in such crazy ways lately. This week we had a speaker, Jake Hamilton, who I know and was very excited to see him and his family out here. Due to an urgent health issue with his wife he had to cancel last minute. So the staff were just trying to fill in the space and as they were praying about what to do this week God totally gave them amazing things for us to do. They had us do a Faith Journey, basically we just pray and go and do whatever the Lord leads us to and trust that he will provide completely. The only rule was we had to be back by 8:00am Wednesday morning. So we prayed that God would give us words and lead us on that amazing journey. The Words we got were: North, Chicken, Elderly, Brad, The letter H, Chinese Restaurant, Wind, Farm, 15, Yellow, Airport, Worship, Sharing, Family, Small Town, Waimea, Service, White Truck, 6:00 am. These were the things that God gave us to go off of. So, we decided the
head NORTH to WAIMEA. We hitchhike and we get in this Jeep and tell the guy where we want to go. Then as were driving he asks us if we have ever been to Hawi. We said no, so he starts to tell us about it, keep in mind he has no idea what our words are. This is what he says about Hawi,"Hawi is just a bunch of OLD PEOPLE sitting around doing nothing, and there is this amazing CHINESE RESTAURANT with great CHICKEN." So we tell him we want to go there. He was on his way to work so he was not able to take us all the way there so he took us 15 minutes past where he works and dropped us off. The place is called Queen's Marketplace and as we are getting out he leans over to one of my team members Scott and hands him money and tells him he wants to pay for our lunch. So we prayed for him, exchanged phone numbers and moved on. Two more rides and we are in Hawi. It is about one and half hours away from Kona which is where our base is. So we get there. There are no old people or chinese restaurant and we heard a chicken when we got in the town but that was basically it. We ate lunch and decided it was time to move on. God just had us go there to show we were really hearing his voice. So we walk about 4 miles to this airport and when we get there we see no planes or hangers or anything. We soon find out there is maybe 30 flights out of this airport a month. So, we decide to walk to the end of this dirt road that is somewhat attached to the airport and we hit this huge house. We did't know if that meant we go and serve there or if that is where we are sleeping. So we sit and pray and this YELLOW car drives up and says they live at the house and asked what we were doing. i just said that we wanted to serve and they said no. Right after we are done with this we see a helicopter land at the airport. We all decide to go back to the airport because this might be our way home. So we get there and find out this helicopter is not supposed to land there that their check engine light came on and they let the passengers out and a new helicopter is coming. The team decided to sit and wait to see if the broken one would get fixed and then they could take us back. We sat and waited for awhile and i had a moment of being so discouraged that i just walked away from my team and got by myself and just prayed. Then when i get back i find out that the pilot can not take us because the helicopter is staying overnight and the one coming to pick them up is to small to fit us. As we sit there trying to figure out what to do and man named Ed comes down with a little girl and tells us that he owns the farm that is surrounding the airport and offers to give us a ride up the hill a little bit to meet his family and fellowship. We get up there and it is a ton of men that look all tough, just big island guys. We meet a man named Phillip, who is a prison minister and a man named
BRAD. right when we met him we knew that is why we sat in that airport and came to Hawi. We talked with these guys for a while and then they offered to take us wild boar hunting. Obviously we went because that is a once in a lifetime chance. So we go boar hunting and just bond with these guys and end up not catching or seeing anything. After we were done phillip pulls up and tell us he wants to take us back to his Aunt's house for some food and to spend the night. So we decide to go but Scott stays behind with Brad to hunt some more. We go to pick up dinner and Phillip gets us two big buckets of CHICKEN, when we pull into get it he says "I gotta take two spots for my big WHITE TRUCK". We did not even realize that it was white until he said it. God just kept confirming we were where we were supposed to be. We pull up to Phillip's aunts house and they have us eat dinner before them and when we look into the living room they have an air mattress blown up
for us and the coaches made into beds with tons of pillows and blankets for us. After we were done eating we went into the living room and before they wanted to eat they wanted to hear our testimony on how we got there, so we told them how God gave us words and we just followed and it lead us to them. After they told us about Brad and about how he had a horrible tormenting past and just rededicated his life to Christ a month ago. Just confirmed that we got that name for a reason. They asked us just to sit and worship with them and they taught us some Hawaiian Songs and we taught them some worship songs. Scott and Brad got back so we went outside and prayed for Brad and just prayed that the strongholds would be broken off and that his past would no longer torment him. This big huge Hawaiian man stands in the middle of us with our hands on him just weeping. After we were done praying for him he just stood sobbing and thanking us. Eventually he asked us if we knew how we were getting back in the morning and we told him no. So he says that he will get us at 4:30 and take us back to base because he works in Kona. Of coarse Brad would work in Kona. We tell him yes that would be amazing and he leaves. We go back inside and get ready for bed and listen to Scott's awesome story about how he kills the boar and everything. We pray as a team figure out how were going to share this amazing story with our class in the morning and go to bed. When we wake up Brad pulls up in a WHITE TRUCK. Confirmation yet again. We start to drive and he just pours out his heart and his past. This man was the main Drug Leader of Kona, been in jail 64 times within a year, shot twice and stabbed 3 times. He told us that he had never shared that with anyone besides his fiance and his future mother in law. Then he tells us that tuesday morning he was praying for encouragement and just surrendered everything to God and asked him to show up. Then later tuesday he gets us brought to him and we just helped him understand God's love for him. It was so amazing. We pull up to the school and exchange phone numbers and Facebook info and give hugs and then leave. Scott is now going to go to church with them on Sunday morning and then Boar hunting afterwards. God was so amazing and blessed those people so much by bringing us to them and they blessed us so much by just being so welcoming and loving towards us. God moves in amazing ways and we are so blessed to get to praise his name. If God moves like this in Kona then imagine how God is going to move when we are in Nepal.
